Coca-Cola Company has expanded its board of directors with the appointment of Herbert A. Allen III, the 54-year-old president of Allen & Co. LLC, effective December 17. This marks a notable leadership transition, as Allen’s father, Herbert A. Allen Jr., concluded his 39 years of service on the beverage giant’s board earlier in the year.

The Allen & Co. Legacy and Its New Leadership

Allen has led Allen & Co. since 2002, overseeing a New York-based investment firm specializing in media, entertainment, technology, and emerging sectors. The privately held company provides comprehensive financial advisory and investment banking services to both public and private enterprises. Under his leadership, Allen manages the firm’s core financial and accounting divisions, demonstrating his capability to handle complex corporate responsibilities.

His professional journey before joining the family enterprise included roles at T. Rowe Price and Botts & Co. Ltd., building a diverse background in the financial sector. Allen holds a Yale University degree and maintains significant board involvement beyond Coca-Cola—he serves as an alternate director for Coca-Cola FEMSA and Grupo Televisa, while also contributing to the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society as an advisory board member.

Strengthening an Established Partnership

“Allen & Co. has maintained a deeply rooted relationship with The Coca-Cola Company, and Herb Allen will contribute significant expertise and strategic insight to our board,” stated James Quincey, Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company.

This appointment reflects the strengthened connection between the two organizations and capitalizes on Allen’s investment expertise in sectors closely aligned with Coca-Cola’s evolving portfolio strategy. The appointment brings the total board membership to 12 directors, with Allen scheduled to seek reelection at the company’s annual shareholder meeting in April 2022.
