J. Alexander’s Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: JAX), a distinguished operator of upscale restaurants across multiple regions, will debut its inaugural Merus Grill location in Houston on November 18 at Uptown Park. Located at 1180 Uptown Park Boulevard, this chef-driven establishment represents a fresh interpretation of classic American dining.

A New Dining Experience Takes Shape

The 7,900-square-foot restaurant will accommodate 200 guests in a thoughtfully curated environment. Leadership has prioritized creating an inviting atmosphere through distinctive artwork and meticulous attention to detail. Will Reiser has been appointed as General Manager, while Executive Chef Ulises Chavez brings culinary expertise to shape the dining experience.

The Merus Grill Menu: A Focus on Quality and Craft

The dining concept centers on contemporary takes of traditional American fare. The Merus Grill menu emphasizes made-from-scratch preparation with premium ingredients. All steaks are cut in-house and grilled in a 1,600° Montague broiler, featuring Certified Angus Beef with precise seasoning techniques.

The offerings span both lunch and dinner services, each with its own distinctive selections. Guests can expect prime rib roasted on the bone, premium cuts of beef, fresh seafood preparations, quality sandwiches, and distinctive entrée salads. Rotating specials complement the core menu, featuring items such as Tuscan Steak, Block Island Swordfish paired with Mango Papaya Salsa, and Chicken Milanese.

Sourcing and Beverage Selection

The kitchen sources all-natural chicken exclusively from Red Bird Farms, reflecting a commitment to ingredient quality. The full-service bar complements the Merus Grill menu with an extensive wine collection offered by the glass or bottle, alongside handcrafted cocktails served with a signature side car.

Operational Details

The restaurant will operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The venue sits within Uptown Park, owned by EDENS.

This Houston location marks J. Alexander’s Holdings’ expansion of its multi-regional restaurant portfolio, which currently includes 46 locations across 16 states. The company maintains headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee.
