IT House, February 12 — After Tesla began communicating with organizations interested in purchasing its all-electric trucks, the price of the Tesla Semi appears to have been leaked. Just a few days ago, Tesla announced it would launch two configuration versions and disclosed their specifications; now, the pricing details have also been revealed.

Following CEO Elon Musk’s statement that the Semi would enter mass production this year, Tesla quickly announced its configuration options. The vehicle will be available in a standard-range and a long-range version, meeting the needs of many companies planning to use it for local and regional delivery services.

With the specifications now public, Tesla has enabled relevant companies to fully understand the value the Semi can bring to their operations. However, at that time, the price information was not disclosed.

According to the latest report from Electrek, Tesla has communicated with interested companies, with the standard-range version priced at $250,000 per vehicle (IT House note: approximately 1.73 million RMB at current exchange rates), and the long-range version at $290,000 (approximately 2.006 million RMB). These prices do not include taxes or transportation fees.

This pricing is higher than the figures announced in 2017, but given inflation and other factors, it is expected that Tesla cannot fulfill the original nine-year-old quote. When the Semi was first unveiled in November 2017, Tesla announced three price points:

  • 300-mile (approximately 482.8 km) range version: $150,000
  • 500-mile (approximately 804.7 km) range version: $180,000
  • Limited “Founder’s Series”: $200,000, requiring full prepayment for priority production, with only 1,000 units available

Tesla has not officially announced the specific pricing for the Semi, but this is not surprising. The Semi is targeted at business customers, and pricing information is typically only shared with pre-ordering parties, which is common for such products.

The Semi will be produced at Tesla’s new dedicated factory in Sparks, Nevada, starting in 2024. The factory is nearing completion by the end of 2025, and executives have confirmed that the first “mass-produced units” are also scheduled for that period.

As Musk reiterated earlier this week, the Semi plans to achieve large-scale production this year. When fully operational, this factory will have an annual output of 50,000 units.
