American Express Saves Taxes in (Not New) Jersey

Abstract generation in progress

American Express reported a $241 million reduction in its corporate income taxes for 2025 by utilizing operations on the island of Jersey. This tax saving is attributed to Jersey’s low corporate tax rate and the 15% income tax it established as part of a global minimum tax agreement. Without the Jersey operations, American Express’s tax rate would have been 1.8 percentage points higher.
