Russia and Ukraine exchange 314 prisoners of war

On the 5th, Russia and Ukraine exchanged 314 prisoners, with each side handing over 157 people. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the prisoner swap was facilitated through mediation by the United Arab Emirates. Currently, the captured Russian personnel are receiving necessary psychological and medical assistance in Belarus and will return to Russia afterward. Ukrainian President Zelensky posted on social media that 157 Ukrainian prisoners of war were released and returned to Ukraine on the same day. These prisoners included both military personnel and civilians. U.S. Special Envoy Witkov posted on social media on the 5th that representatives from the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia reached an agreement on that day to exchange 314 prisoners. All parties will continue dialogue, and more progress is expected in the coming weeks. A working group on security issues, composed of representatives from Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine, began a new round of talks in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on the 4th, continuing diplomatic efforts to promote a political resolution to the Ukraine crisis.
