Q: On February 24th, the UK Foreign Office announced a new round of sanctions involving Russia, targeting several Chinese companies. What is China’s response to this?

A: The UK has repeatedly taken measures against Chinese companies citing involvement with Russia. These unilateral sanctions are without legal basis under international law and are not authorized by the United Nations. China strongly disapproves and firmly opposes this. Regarding the Ukraine crisis, China consistently enforces strict controls on the export of dual-use items in accordance with laws and regulations. Normal exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies should not be disturbed or affected. China urges the UK to correct its wrongful actions immediately, revoke the sanctions against relevant Chinese entities, and act in a manner that maintains the healthy development of China-UK relations. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
