How to Improve the Return on Investment

The author has not experienced any losses over seven years of investing on Jisilu, but the returns have been relatively poor. Although they achieved a 41% return in 2021, the following two years mostly yielded single-digit returns, with significant losses evident before 2024. The portfolio is quite diversified, and some assets that doubled in value were missed out on for higher gains due to early reduction of positions. The author is seeking advice on how to improve their investment strategy.

Since joining the Jisilu forum, I haven’t lost money for seven consecutive years, but the returns have not been very satisfactory.
Except for 2021, when I was lucky and achieved a 41% return, 2022 and 2023 were single-digit gains. Before August 2024, I was in a loss, but after September 24, I relied on policy benefits to achieve 21%. In 2025, the return was only 17%. The overall yield has been hard to improve mainly because I can’t hold on to my positions.
A few convertible bonds that doubled in value were mostly sold around 130, with only a small part held until 160-180 before selling out. In the end, they all rose above 230.
A few stocks doubled, but I am not very confident about buying too many stocks, only a few tens of thousands at most.

Can any experts give some guidance on what the problem might be?
My holdings are relatively diversified. For safety, I keep each position below 20%, with heavy positions generally between 10% and 20%.
