🔥Trump Urges Israel to Ease Attacks on Lebanon to Protect US-Iran Talks

On April 10, according to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Trump has asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reduce the intensity of strikes against Lebanon, to ensure that military action does not interfere with the upcoming US-Iran negotiations. The report says Trump spoke with Netanyahu and “harshly” made clear that the United States understands Israel’s security demands, but that in order to maintain the talks, Israel should ease its military strikes. A U.S. official said the call “was shorter than ever,” and that the Trump administration had never before asked Israel to slow its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. This pressure comes after Iran and the mediator, Pakistan, accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement. Trump worries that continued strikes would affect the US-Iran ceasefire talks and disrupt the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
