Nic Carter discusses why Satoshi Nakamoto did not fix the early Bitcoin quantum vulnerability
ME News Report, April 13 (UTC+8), January 10, 2026, Castle Island Ventures partner Nic Carter discussed on the Delphi Digital podcast the reasons why Satoshi Nakamoto did not fix the early Bitcoin quantum vulnerability. Satoshi explicitly mentioned the quantum threat but left a vulnerability affecting between one million and two million early Bitcoins. Carter believes this was because, in 2010, Bitcoin’s value was essentially zero and the code was easy to modify. Satoshi thought that a direct upgrade would suffice if it was cracked, failing to foresee the enormous profit scale today and the difficulty of system upgrades. (Source: MLion)
