Sodium battery prices are expected to catch up with lithium batteries in the next or the following year.
Regarding when sodium batteries will become economically competitive with lithium batteries, on March 31st, Li Shujun, General Manager of China Science and Technology Haidong, told Jiemian News in a group interview that the prices of sodium batteries and lithium batteries both have a certain range. Lithium batteries are mainly between 0.3 yuan and 0.5 yuan per watt-hour, while sodium batteries are currently between 0.5 yuan and 0.7 yuan per watt-hour, depending on specific application scenarios. Li Shujun believes that the cost of sodium-ion batteries is rapidly decreasing, while lithium batteries are increasing, and the price ranges of the two will eventually intersect and overlap. The timing of this intersection has a clear marker, indicating that market integration has been established, and market confidence will also shift accordingly. He predicts that the price intersection will occur next year, with overlap forming the following year. “We believe that next year is a relatively certain time point,” Li Shujun said. (Jiemian News)
