One rule that's kept me out of a lot of bad trades is by using a moving average as a pivot to define whether I'm long or short
Above high time frame moving average = look for long setups
Below low time frame moving average = look for short setups
Path of least resistance = fewer trouble areas
On trend = buyers/sellers on your side/in control
Example
If you are looking for longs but the price is below the daily 50 100 and 200 MAs. Lets say they all fall between $50-60. Your entry is $40. Target is $70. The moving averages act like a wall without taking into account the normal supply levels. Not

Main issue with new traders moving over from trading spot to perps is that most don't know when they are wrong due to existing bad habits from bag holding & dcaing. Adding to losing position and not knowing when to cut a loss is just a faster way of getting rekt with leverage. This doesn't factor in they're almost certainly oversizing as well. It forces you to define an invalidation point which is difficult to do without understanding how to read a chart

Keep seeing new shiny tools shipping but the gap between retail and using them safely is too big. Solid engineering is worth appreciating but there's a huge disconnect from what's actually happening on the floor

A platform that supports all perp dexs simultaneously on solana & more importantly the traders using them. Who's building this?

Been here long enough to remember how the 'battle' of nft marketplaces on solana went. Pretty frustrating to see perps approaching things a similar way. Why can't they all win together?

Solana community perps test
A - I've never used perps
B - I got shilled them but immediately felt lost on the platform then left
C - I tried using them but got rekt pretty fast
D - I'm a perps pro and understand how they work

Far too many bullish posts about perps on solana and basically 0 instruction manuals on how to use them. If you can't see a problem with this then I don't know what else to tell you

One of the main issues I see when people trade with/talk about perps is that they misunderstand what they're actually for. The main assumption is that they believe there's more risk when it's actually meant to be for the complete opposite
-leverage can act as an insurance policy against a protocol getting exploited
-leverage can limit the drain size of a single personal wallet if you get exploited
-leverage can reduce stress if an exchange suddenly halts withdrawals
-leverage forces the trader to identify where they are wrong
-leverage caps max risk if there's a significant impulse of volatili

These 'missed out on' pnl cards are probably one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen. It's about as useful as knowing the lottery numbers after they've been drawn. You're going to drive yourself insane if you keep looking at this hypothetical 'what I could have made if I held and sold my entire stack at the exact top with a perfect buyer matching my liquidity providing zero slippage' nonsense. If you sold early you were never going to hold. Trenches ruined CT

Volume, OI and market share might look good on paper for founders/teams, but are empty measurements of success if most traders that use the platform get rekt. If the community really matters, it's time to look after those same people if you want to win long term

Solana perps are posturing for another boom and bust cycle unless there's a fundamental shift. 35 perp dexs aren't going to fix this problem. Gud tech helps but it's much deeper than that
