Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is in the process of raising a $100 billion artificial intelligence investment fund. The fund will collaborate with his AI startup Project Prometheus, focusing on manufacturing, aerospace, and engineering industries to improve productivity and quality through AI technology, further promoting industry upgrades.

WSJ: Bezos raises $100 billion AI fund, targeting SoftBank Vision Fund

According to The Wall Street Journal, Bezos is negotiating with investors from the Middle East and Southeast Asia to raise up to $100 billion for a “manufacturing transformation fund,” comparable in size to SoftBank Group’s Vision Fund (SVF1 & SVF2), potentially becoming one of the largest tech investment funds in the world.

This fund will operate alongside Project Prometheus, founded by Bezos in November 2025, which is led by Bezos and former Google researcher Vik Bajaj as co-CEOs, with initial funding of $6.2 billion.

Unlike current mainstream generative AI focused on text and image applications, this new AI startup concentrates on applying AI to engineering design, manufacturing processes, and aerospace, analyzing data from the physical world to enhance companies’ production efficiency and quality.

Investment Strategy: Digitally transforming traditional companies with AI, strengthening aerospace and industrial sectors

Sources say the fund will not only invest in AI companies but also prefer direct acquisitions or investments in traditional enterprises, upgrading them with Prometheus technology. This approach combines private equity and technological innovation, emphasizing “upgrading existing industries with AI” rather than solely supporting startups.

Bezos has previously stated that AI will impact nearly all companies, especially in manufacturing, significantly improving product quality and production efficiency. His actions now reflect this vision, pushing AI from digital applications into physical industries to drive industrial upgrades.

Meanwhile, Prometheus is also in talks to raise up to $6 billion, and recently appointed David Limp, CEO of Bezos’s aerospace company Blue Origin, to its board.

AI Competition heats up: Moving from generative applications to industrial infrastructure transformation

As AI enters a new stage of development, industry focus is shifting from chatbots and content generation to more foundational fields like manufacturing, scientific research, and engineering. Bezos’s strategic layout aims to push AI development toward restructuring the physical world, highlighting how tech giants are accelerating global industrial transformation through capital and technological integration.
