According to a report by Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on April 6, demonstrations were held in Washington D.C. and across the country on April 5, opposing the government's budget cuts, crackdown on immigrants, and tax increases.
It is estimated that there were up to 1,200 protests on that day. This is the largest single-day protest since U.S. President Trump and his billionaire ally Musk rapidly pushed for government reforms and expanded presidential powers. It is also the first large-scale protest that Trump has faced since taking office again.

In gloomy weather, people braved the light rain to flock to the large grassy area around the Washington Monument. Demonstration organizers told Reuters that more than 20,000 people are expected to attend the rally at the National Mall.
The protest activity website states that about 150 activist groups have registered to participate in the protest rally on the 5th. The protest is planned to take place in all 50 states of the United States as well as in countries like Canada and Mexico.
About 6 kilometers away from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, more than 400 people protested. Drivers passing by honked their horns in support of the demonstrators. Some held signs that read, "Market crashes, but Trump is playing golf."
Americans in Europe also held demonstrations, gathering in the streets of Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, and London to express their opposition to Trump's complete overhaul of U.S. domestic and foreign policies.
