There is a small story in the "Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch": One day, while the scriptures were being preached in the temple, the wind lifted the temple's flags. One monk said it was the wind that was moving, while another monk said it was the flags that were moving, and they argued incessantly. At that moment, Huineng stood up and said: "It is not the wind that moves, nor the flags that move; it is the hearts of the benevolent that move!" Upon hearing this, the other monks were astonished.

Just like in the investment market, without trading, prices won't fluctuate. "When the wind blows, the banner moves; it does not separate from the wind, does not separate from the banner, does not separate from the heart. If it separates from the wind, the banner does not move; if it separates from the banner, the wind cannot be seen moving; if it separates from the heart, one does not know what moves." In this market, one cannot simply long or short a stock based on personal preference, but must try to look beyond the phenomenon and see the essence, becoming a clear-minded participant in the market. A compassionate heart moves, clearly understanding each trade made, and with long-term persistence, one will surely reap greater rewards!
