BSN-like structure on Atomicals: Bitcoin native service network technology
1. From National Standards to Native Networks
Yesterday, I listened to the discussion by YouTube blogger 小岛大浪吹 about the cryptocurrency market and highly recommend everyone to study it. The BSN structure mentioned in the middle is quite forward-looking and has strategic significance in terms of performance. We might as well build the BSN on Atomicals.
Let's first discuss what BSN is. Over the past five years, the Eastern region's blockchain infrastructure construction has been represented by the Blockchain Service Network (BSN), forming a top-down digital public service system. Its core goal is to support high-trust scenarios such as government affairs, finance, and supply chains in the form of consortium chains, reducing the threshold for enterprises and governments to use blockchain technology, and promoting "Blockchain+" to become one of the underlying capabilities of the national digital economy. In simple terms, it is partially applying blockchain technology to complete endorsements and records across multiple scenarios.
2. The logic of BSN: Institutional design of the national-level blockchain
BSN is led by the National Information Center, in collaboration with Dongda Mobile, Dongda UnionPay, and other units. Its positioning is "the infrastructure of infrastructure in blockchain infrastructure," forming a national-level blockchain service foundation by providing a unified cloud environment, interfaces, node operation, and smart contract support.
This design ensures compliance, controllability, and traceability, allowing governments and large institutions to use blockchain technology in a regulated environment. However, its limitations are equally evident. The BSN lacks tokens and economic incentive mechanisms, making it difficult to form a self-driven ecosystem; the speed of technological innovation is limited by management approval processes; cross-chain and international adaptability is weak and heavily constrained by regulations; the underlying blockchain still relies on permissioned nodes, and is not a fully decentralized consensus network.
3. The Structural Evolution of Atomicals and the Bitcoin Ecosystem
In contrast to BSN, Atomicals was born in the native context of Bitcoin. It is not an external overlay layer, but rather achieves asset issuance, management, and logical expansion at the mainnet layer by directly utilizing the UTXO structure.
The technical philosophy of Atomicals can be summarized in three points. First, the one coin one satoshi mechanism redefines a satoshi as an independent unit of asset, making Bitcoin the smallest granularity of asset and data carrier. Second, the Container mechanism is equivalent to on-chain folders or virtual nodes, used to accommodate and manage various assets, NFTs, code, and status information. Third, the ARC standard corresponds to the token standard and the smart contract execution environment, enabling assets to have logical interaction capabilities.
Under this structure, Atomicals achieves the logicalization of Bitcoin layer assets without sidechains and without permission. It maintains the security model of Bitcoin while providing developers with a smart and scalable building interface.
The deeper meaning is that Atomicals is not another chain, but rather allows Bitcoin to become an application network. This is different from inscription protocols like Ordinals and Runes, which are mainly used for asset registration and engraving, while Atomicals provides an execution environment and asset logic layer. This structural completeness theoretically allows it to undertake functions similar to BSN, providing both a general asset management framework and supporting cross-application naming systems and decentralized identities.
Four, From BSN to Atomicals: The Feasibility of Architecture Migration
If we consider BSN as a "centralized coordination, multi-chain compatible, application-bearing" framework, then within the Atomicals system, we can find almost corresponding technical components. The city nodes of BSN can be undertaken by Containers, each Container being an autonomous node freely deployed by individuals or organizations.
The application access interface can be replaced by Realm and AVM, with smart contract interfaces replacing traditional API gateways. Management of on-chain resources can be achieved through UTXO and ARC-20, while identity authentication is completed through Container signatures and SAT binding. Incentives and governance are driven by the ARC-20 token model, forming a self-sustaining ecosystem through consensus and tokens.
5. The Realistic Path of Native Service Networks
The decentralized service network under the Atomicals ecosystem is not only a theoretical concept but also has the potential for practical implementation.
The first category is supply chain and traceability systems. In BSN, traceability usually relies on permissioned nodes and third-party interfaces. In Atomicals, each production link can have an independent Container, and product information is bound to specific SATs in the form of ARC-20, with circulation records written to the Bitcoin mainnet, thus achieving fully chain-verifiable traceability. This model does not require a central server, and any participating party can directly verify data integrity on the public chain.
The second type is the city-level digital asset system. The BSN city nodes can be mapped to the Container network of Atomicals. Cities can issue local digital certificates, such as energy consumption points and public resource Tokens, with citizen identities confirmed by Container signatures, and government service contracts operating within the AVM environment. The entire system maintains technical autonomy while being governed by city communities or node alliances.
The third category is decentralized data alliances. Under the BSN framework, data sharing requires approval and central coordination, whereas on Atomicals, data providers can directly authorize access through smart contracts. Combined with AVM, it is possible to define data usage conditions, call frequency, and payment methods, achieving on-chain automatic settlement and auditing.
6. System and Governance: From Centralized Regulation to Consensus Governance
BSN represents a system of trust model, established through the credibility of enterprises and the government. Atomicals represent a contract trust model, achieving trust through Bitcoin mainnet consensus and cryptographic verification. The two are not opposed, but rather are different levels of technological paradigms. The former exchanges compliance for certainty, while the latter exchanges openness for innovation.
The future service network may be compatible with both. In domestic or specific industries, a BSN-style permissioned chain will be adopted to ensure regulatory control; in international and cross-border scenarios, a Bitcoin-native service network will be built using Atomicals to achieve decentralized trust interoperability. This will form a dual-layer structure: the upper layer is an institutionalized permissioned network, while the lower layer is a decentralized consensus network. Through interfaces or cross-layer protocols, migration from national-level blockchains to global native blockchains can be accomplished.
From nations to individuals, from permission to consensus, from systems to agreements, this is a reversal of underlying logic. If BSN is a centralized blockchain practice, then Atomicals represents the return to the center of blockchain.
