According to PANews, GoPlus issued a security warning regarding a malicious Chrome extension masquerading as the Ethereum wallet (ETH). Released on November 12, 2024, this extension is designed to steal users' assets by encoding mnemonic phrases in Sui transactions. Advertised as a simple and secure ETH wallet, the extension contains a backdoor that encodes users' mnemonic phrases into Sui addresses. It then broadcasts microtransactions from the Sui wallet controlled by the attacker, making it extremely stealthy. Currently, the malicious extension has not been removed from the Chrome Web Store. GoPlus has reported the issue to Chrome and added a link to the blacklist.
