Crypto virus on your PC? Here’s how to find and cure it.

A hidden crypto miner is a “buddy” that quietly infiltrates your computer and turns your laptop into a private coin mining farm. While you browse memes, the virus hammers your hardware to the max. And yes, antivirus does not always catch it.

How to understand that you are infected

Look for these signs — if you notice anything from this, it's time to act:

The iron heats up like in the desert

• The graphics card heats up and makes noise like an airplane.
• Use GPU-Z to make sure

The computer is lagging like it's been braked

• The task manager shows CPU at 60%+
• The systems just can't handle your conditionally basic actions.

Heats up the RAM and consumes traffic

• RAM to the maximum
• The internet is going down for no reason

Strange processes in the dispatcher — like Asikadl.exe or other intricate names

The browser squints quieter — tabs close, the connection drops.

Virus Removal Plan

Step 1: Basic Attack

1. Run the computer through the current antivirus ( at least with the updated Windows Defender )
2. Run Ccleaner or an alternative — it will clean the system junk.
3. Restart the PC

Step 2: Manual search ( for paranoia )

Through the register:

• Win+R → enter regedit
• Ctrl+F → search for the name of the suspicious process
• Delete everything that looks like a random set of letters

Through the task scheduler:

• Win+R → enter taskschd.msc
• Spin in the “Task Scheduler Library”
• In the “Triggers” and “Actions” tabs, look for what runs when the PC is turned on.
• Found suspicious — right-click → “Disable”
• If after this the CPU calms down — remove this task completely

Step 3: Heavy artillery

If the light options didn't help — download Dr. Web or something similar. They perform a deep scan and clean thoroughly.

How to avoid getting infected a second time

• Antivirus + firewall - always on
• Antivirus databases — update regularly
• Check files before uploading
• HTTPS sites only (lock icon in the browser)
• JavaScript in the browser - better block it on suspicious sites
• Do not be an administrator by default — if a miner gets admin rights, she becomes a mother fortress.
• Windows password — so that no one installs junk on your machine
• AdBlock, uBlock — filter not only ads
• Chrome has built-in protection against crypto-mining — enable it in the settings under (“Privacy and security”)

Life hack: If the infection is serious — you can take a clean Windows image and reinstall every 2-3 months. Radical, but guaranteed.
