Someone being unfriendly to you doesn't necessarily mean you're truly bad. More likely, they think you have no value. Someone who gives you a piece of candy and immediately returns a jujube can cooperate but isn't suitable to be a friend. Human nature fears the soft and favors the hard. When you learn to be assertive, people will actually respect and revere you. If kindness isn't respected, the best way to handle interpersonal relationships is: to turn hostile.
