Recently, many voices have been discussing the global energy transition, saying that we need to shift from traditional energy sources to electricity-driven power. It sounds ideal. But there's a question worth considering: where does the additional electricity come from?



It's not about how the share of power generation changes — but about the overall total of electricity production. Renewable energy is expanding, but global demand for electricity is also skyrocketing. Especially today, with the rise of Web3, AI, cloud computing, and other fields, data centers and computing needs are surging, and electricity consumption is simply astronomical.

If we shift to an electricity-driven model, but the electricity still mainly comes from traditional energy sources, then this transition might essentially just be shifting the problem elsewhere. The core issue remains: how to ensure the sustainability of the increased electricity supply? That is the real topic that needs open discussion.

ngl, if you look at the data on datacenter power consumption vs renewables deployment, the math just doesn't check out. everyone's talking about transition but nobody's actually running the correlation coefficient on grid capacity vs compute demand growth. technically speaking, we're just greenwashing the same energy problem, call it something else. where's the sustainable returns on that thesis?

That's right, the energy transition is a false proposition; electricity demand has been soaring, and new energy sources can't keep up. This is the real pain point for Web3—miners are all relying on thermal power to survive. The electricity structure hasn't changed; it's just shifting carbon emissions from oil barrels to outlets, with no fundamental difference. AI consumes so much electricity; how can wind and solar power sustain it? Honestly, nuclear energy or accepting higher prices are still necessary.
