The contradiction between fundamentals and price: Why will the crypto market split in 2025

Abstract generation in progress

【Crypto World】By the end of 2025, the cryptocurrency market size is only one-fifth of its previous peak, and behind this number lies an unsettling contradiction. On one hand, ETF and institutional funds are continuously flowing in, with leading assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum gaining favor among institutions, and the fundamentals appear quite solid. On the other hand, price performance has consistently failed to keep up with these positive signals, and the disconnect between the two has reached an unprecedented level.

Market participants have different interpretations of this bizarre situation. One view suggests that there may be hidden structural selling pressure behind the scenes, or that the market is building momentum and will experience a large-scale chasing rebound in the future. Another perspective is more straightforward: market makers may be intentionally creating this painful situation by suppressing prices to adjust the market structure.

More notably, the entire market has already split completely. “Institutional-grade cryptocurrencies” represented by Bitcoin and Ethereum have broken out into independent trends, gaining favor from institutional funds. Meanwhile, the altcoin market has become a “hotspot-driven” environment, where any small movement triggers a follow-up, lacking any sustainability. The once unified crypto market and the traditional altcoin trading seasons have completely disappeared.

What does this mean? It means you can no longer understand the current market with the same logic as in the past. Institutions and retail investors, Bitcoin and altcoins, are no longer in the same market.

Solid fundamentals but the price just won't move? That's just ridiculous, it feels like someone is secretly suppressing the market. Even with institutional investors involved, it's still the same; either it's building up momentum or there's something fishy. One-fifth is truly outrageous; this wave will either see a big rebound or be a trap. The ETF inflows are so strong, yet the price is still like this; there must be something we don't know. Market makers are behind the scenes cutting the leeks, Bitcoin and Ethereum are being treated separately. It feels like there's a real split this time, unlike before when everything moved together. Institutions favor it, but maybe they're waiting for even lower prices. Wait, is another big drop coming? My position... Talking about building momentum, I think they're just collecting chips; their tactics are clever.

Institutions are accumulating, retail investors are eating the losses, this is the current state of the crypto market. --- It's both accumulation and market making, in simple terms, the whales are shaking out the weak hands, everyone understands. --- One fifth? Then my assets would also depreciate fivefold... Ironically, the fundamentals are getting better and better, this logic is just perfect. --- Splitting is splitting, anyway BTC and ETH are locked by institutions, what can retail investors play with? --- Lowering prices to adjust the market structure? Sounds like someone is just violently absorbing orders. --- Wait, does this mean there will be a big rebound in the second half of the year? Can I still add to my position now? --- The fundamentals of top assets are solid as hell, even liquidity has dried up. --- I just want to ask, when can this contradiction be resolved... Next year or the year after? --- It seems like a signal to bottom out, although there might still be further drops.

Institutions are accumulating, retail investors are taking losses. I've seen this script too many times. Market makers suppress prices? I've seen through it long ago, just waiting for the rebound. Solid fundamentals? What matters is the price, that's the truth. The entire market is splitting? No, it's us who are being divided. Where did all the ETF inflows go? Now that's the real issue.

I'll just say it, the fundamentals are good, but this price really damn tortures people. Are institutions quietly accumulating? Or secretly dumping? Can't tell for sure. One-fifth of the market cap, and they still dare to call it the bottom, I'm crying.

Institutions have entered but haven't pulled the market yet, this doesn't feel right... It seems like they're waiting for some major event before taking action.
