#美国就业数据表现强劲超出预期 Bhutan plans to use 10,000 Bitcoins to build a "Crypto City"—you read that right. This Himalayan nation is playing a big game.

As the fifth-largest Bitcoin holder in the world, Bhutan holds over 11,000 BTC. Recently, it announced the launch of the "Gelephu Mindfulness City" project—using Bitcoin reserves to create an economic zone connecting South Asia and Southeast Asia. This is not just talk; construction has already begun in 2024, led personally by King Wangchuck, with a goal to complete in 20 years.

Why is this so groundbreaking? A few data points tell the story:

· 10,000 Bitcoins are currently worth over $6 billion, which means the entire population's per capita holdings are quite significant
· Long-term holding to hedge against volatility, while reinvesting appreciation into infrastructure development
· Addressing the issue of youth outmigration by opening a crypto financial regulatory sandbox to attract enterprises

The Gelephu project in southern Bhutan aims to attract industries such as fintech, green energy, and high-end tourism. Interestingly, it will also support Bhutan’s Bitcoin mining—using clean hydropower for mining, and using Bitcoin profits to build the city, creating a complete ecological loop.

The king’s statement is straightforward: "This is not a dream, but an economic corridor connecting regions." Developed in phases over 20 years, it aims to create high-value jobs and achieve sustainable growth. A small country leveraging cutting-edge digital assets to shape its future—this strategy is truly bold.

What do netizens think? Some say this is a "blueprint for small countries to leapfrog," others ask, "Will Bitcoin price volatility cause the project to stall?" More discussions are about whether this will become a model project for the crypto economy or just an idealistic experiment.

Bhutan is betting not just on Bitcoin, but on the voice of the next era.

Bhutan's move this time is truly brilliant. Using Bitcoin mining to support urban development and creating an ecological closed-loop is such a hardcore approach.
