“The new image generation model in ChatGPT more accurately aligns with your intentions, changing only what you ask, while preserving various elements like lighting, composition, and the appearance of people,” — says the company’s X account.
The tool is available in the chatbot app for all users through a separate “Images” window on the sidebar.
“New viewing and editing screens simplify creating images that match your vision,” — said OpenAI CEO Fiji Simo.
The GPT Image 1.5 release is another step by Sam Altman following the “red code” announcement due to increasing competition from Google with its flagship solutions Gemini 3 and Nano Banana Pro.
According to TechCrunch, OpenAI planned to release the new image generator in early January, but the release had to be accelerated.
Simo noted that ChatGPT’s performance has been improved in terms of applying additional visual elements. Responses to search queries have become more interactive.
“If visual elements tell a story better than words alone, the chatbot should include them,” — wrote the top manager.
New Deal
Alongside developing the product line, OpenAI continues to attract investments. According to The Information, the company is negotiating a new deal with Amazon regarding the use of AI chips.
The amount could exceed $10 billion, but the details of the agreement have not yet been approved.
Discussions began after the restructuring of OpenAI’s corporate structure, which gave the company more freedom to raise capital and collaborate.
Amazon has invested at least $8 billion in the competing startup Anthropic. The corporation has been developing its own AI chips since 2015.
In recent months, OpenAI has committed over $1.4 trillion to building AI infrastructure. However, the startup’s financial position may be shaky, as indicated by a recent document leak.
Personnel
OpenAI has hired former UK Treasury Secretary George Osborne to collaborate with governments on building AI infrastructure.
we increasingly hear from countries wanting to understand how AI fits into their economic strategy and ability to serve citizens in domains like healthcare, education, and more
we are thrilled to welcome @George_Osborne as our Head of OpenAI for Countries to lead our work… https://t.co/2dhSCZ9JjV
