Does BTC volatility outperform tech stocks? How institutional entry is reshaping the risk landscape of crypto assets

【CoinPush】Last year’s data is quite interesting—BTC’s annual price change was only 68%, yet it was left behind by Nvidia (NVDA) with 120%. At first glance, this seems counterintuitive, but the underlying logic is worth pondering.

This narrowing of volatility directly reflects the maturation of the crypto market. As traditional financial giants like Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo, and Merrill Lynch entered the space, the investor structure of BTC underwent a fundamental transformation—from retail-driven “gambling-like” behavior to a rational allocation by institutions. The entry of institutions brought more liquidity and hedging tools, naturally diluting risk factors.

The launch of ETFs further accelerated this process. Standardized products attracted many traditional investors who are less familiar with cryptocurrencies, focusing more on asset allocation needs rather than short-term speculation. This directly lowered overall volatility.

Looking toward 2026, this trend seems likely to continue. Breaking historical highs for BTC is highly probable, but the gains may be more “civilized.” In contrast, crypto-related stocks might even outperform the entire tech sector—after all, the crypto ecosystem that has undergone institutional baptism is now nurturing a new wave of growth logic.

Hey, wait a minute, NVDA is up 120% and our BTC is only up 68%? Is that reasonable, brother? Institutional entry just changes everything? Feels a bit less exciting. As soon as the ETF is launched, the crypto circle starts to "regulate" itself. It's a bit boring.

Institutional entry has really "tamed" the crypto market, and the volatility is actually less aggressive than tech stocks? It feels a bit less exciting.

Institutional entry has really "tamed" the crypto market; the decreased volatility has become a bit boring... I miss the thrill of getting rich overnight or getting liquidated.

Institutional buy-ins have flattened the excitement in the crypto world. Is this still the Bitcoin we want?
