Bitcoin pioneer 's wallet suddenly shows new activity. What is really behind this?

In early September this year, a Bitcoin address that had been inactive for ten years suddenly became active, and the owner of this address is none other than early Bitcoin developer . According to on-chain data monitoring, this legendary figure's wallet transferred 46 Bitcoins to exchanges within just a few weeks, with a total value of approximately $2.97 million. The most recent transfer occurred recently, moving out another 10 BTC (about $645,000). Currently, the wallet still holds about 1,179 Bitcoins.

But here’s a key detail— passed away back in 2014. So, who is actually executing these transfers?

**The Legendary Developer’s Legendary Story**

To understand this mystery, we need to first know who is. This American cryptographer and programmer is one of the most legendary figures in Bitcoin history. In 1993, he proposed the concept of encrypted transaction cards in an academic paper, which is very similar to today’s NFTs.

On January 11, 2009, posted the first tweet mentioning Bitcoin online: "Bitcoin is working," and shortly after, Satoshi Nakamoto sent him 10 Bitcoins. This made the first recipient and one of the earliest developers in Bitcoin history. He also played important roles in the development of PGP encryption technology and the Tor anonymous network.

**Revival After Disappearing for Ten Years**

Even more interesting is that there has long been a persistent speculation about ’s identity—that he is the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. In August 2021, senior Bloomberg analyst stated on social media that he believed is the real Satoshi Nakamoto. However, this theory can never be confirmed, because died in 2014 from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) at the age of 58.

Before his death, was interviewed by Forbes magazine. When asked if he was Satoshi Nakamoto, he outright denied it. But regardless of the truth, his contributions to the cryptocurrency field have been written into history.

**The Truth Behind the Wallet Revival**

Regarding the recent asset transfers, had revealed before his death that he stored his private keys in a safe and entrusted them to his children. Therefore, these recent series of transfers are likely being carried out by his family. Since the wallet was activated in early September, the ongoing large transfers further confirm this inference.

This "revival" of ’s wallet has once again energized the community and reaffirmed this early developer’s important place in Bitcoin history. The BTC assets he left behind have now appreciated to millions of dollars—perhaps the best tribute to his foresight and vision.
