U.S. Senate Confirms Trump Nominees for CFTC and FDIC Leaders



The U.S. Senate has confirmed officials nominated by President Trump, with Mike Selig appointed as the head of the CFTC and Travis Hill leading the FDIC. Selig's appointment will advance cryptocurrency regulatory policies.

PANews December 19 News, according to CoinDesk reports, on Thursday, the U.S. Senate began confirming a large number of President Trump’s nominees, including two officials who will hold important regulatory positions in the cryptocurrency field. The Senate approved the appointment of Mike Selig as the head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Travis Hill to lead the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Selig will play a key role in cryptocurrency regulation, succeeding Acting Chair Caroline Pham. In the absence of a permanent chair, Acting Chair Pham has been pushing a progressive cryptocurrency policy agenda.
