Ethereum core developers have named the next upgrade after Glamsterdam as Hegota. The name Hegota combines the execution layer's "Bogota" and the consensus layer's "Heze." The specific core EIP has not yet been determined and is expected to be finalized by February 2026. Glamsterdam is expected to go live in the first half of 2026, while Hegota may be implemented in the second half, with candidate directions including Verkle Trees, state and history pruning mechanisms, and execution layer optimizations.
