BUALT Index Powers New Brazilian Alternative Asset ETF Through Investo Partnership

BUALT Brings Direct Access to 10 Leading US-Listed Alternative Asset Managers for Brazilian Investors

The alternative asset management sector just got easier to access for Brazilian investors. MarketVector Indexes has licensed the BlueStar Top 10 US Listed Alternative Asset Managers Index (BUALT) to Investo, forming the backbone of the PEVC11 ETF that officially launched today. This move opens the door to portfolio diversification in a space traditionally reserved for institutional players.

The BUALT index tracks the largest and most liquid US-listed alternative asset management companies—those generating at least 75% of revenue or operating assets from alternative investments. This includes private equity firms, hedge fund managers, and venture capital operators listed on US exchanges and denominated in USD.

Why Alternative Assets Matter Now

As inflation pressures mount, investors increasingly seek non-correlated assets and alternative yields to protect their portfolios. Private and alternative assets have moved from niche territory into mainstream allocation strategies, with traditional asset managers rapidly expanding their alternative offerings. The BUALT index provides a pure-play approach, targeting companies with significant business exposure to the alternative asset management space—avoiding consultants, advisors, or financing companies that merely support the sector rather than operate within it.

BUALT Structure and Mechanics

The index operates as a modified market-cap-weighted construction, reviewed semi-annually to maintain relevance. It consists of exactly 10 components, with a December 31, 2015 base date and a base value of 100. Calculations are provided in USD across three versions: price index, total return gross index, and total return net index.

Investo’s Brazilian Expansion

For Cauê Mançanares, CEO of Investo, this represents a significant milestone. The PEVC11 ETF marks the fifth thematic product Investo has brought to Brazilian investors since its Harvard-founded launch in 2020. The ETF model solves a critical problem in private equity investing—traditional PE investments lock up capital, while PEVC11 offers liquidity through B3, allowing investors to exit positions whenever needed.

“Investing in ETFs combines international segment exposure with the convenience of domestic exchange trading,” Mançanares explained. The company counts BTG, Nubank Invest, Credit Suisse, Banco Inter, and Banco Modal among its institutional partners.

MarketVector’s Index Expertise

MarketVector Indexes, a BaFin-regulated benchmark administrator based in Germany, maintains over 25 exchange-traded products across global markets. The firm operates under the MarketVector, MVIS, and BlueStar brand names, with particular strength in thematic indexes, hard asset-linked equity strategies, and digital asset benchmarks. As a Van Eck Associates subsidiary, MarketVector brings institutional-grade index methodology to innovative investment themes.

For Steven Schoenfeld, CEO of MarketVector Indexes, the Investo partnership extends the firm’s mission: “We’re delivering benchmarks that help investors tap into private equity, hedge fund, and venture capital exposure through a vehicle specifically designed for Brazilian market participants.”
