Honda Extends Classic Car Legacy With New Heritage Works Initiative

Abstract generation in progress

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is reshaping how enthusiasts can maintain their treasured vehicles by establishing Honda Heritage Works, a dedicated business division launching April 1, 2026, to serve passionate owners of classic Honda and Acura sport models. The initiative addresses a growing challenge: as classic models age beyond their original production cycles, sourcing replacement components becomes increasingly difficult.

Two-Pronged Approach to Vehicle Preservation

The Honda Heritage Works framework operates through two complementary services. The first, Honda Heritage Parts, tackles component scarcity by offering both newly engineered compatible parts and meticulously reproduced original components. Compatible parts are redesigned using modern materials and manufacturing techniques to match the performance of discontinued originals, while reproduction parts faithfully recreate original specifications using identical materials and methods. These components will be distributed globally through existing Honda dealer networks.

The second pillar, Honda Restoration Service, debuts exclusively in Japan with an ambitious scope. Building on Honda’s three-decade NSX Refresh Plan history since 1993, the new service restores vehicles to their original performance and aesthetics. The company will operate from its Takanezawa facility—the birthplace of the first-generation NSX—now renamed Honda Heritage Works Takanezawa.

Tailored Restoration Packages

Customers can select between two restoration tiers. Basic Restoration focuses on performance-critical systems like engines and suspensions, while Total Restoration encompasses comprehensive exterior, interior, and detailed customization based on individual vehicle condition. Applications for first-generation NSX (NA1-100) restoration open in early January 2026 through Honda dealer networks, with work commencing April 2026.

The initiative represents Honda’s commitment to extending the lifespan of beloved vehicles, ensuring classic Honda sport-type models remain drivable for generations of enthusiasts while reinforcing the brand’s heritage and customer loyalty.
