AtmosZero Lands $21 Million Series A to Transform Industrial Steam Into Zero-Carbon Power

Industrial steam might seem like a boring topic, but it’s anything but. Every year, fossil fuel-powered boilers pump out over 2 gigatons of CO2 while powering factories, breweries, and heating systems worldwide. That’s nearly 8% of all global primary energy consumption—and it’s ripe for disruption.

Enter AtmosZero, a Fort Collins-based startup with a deceptively simple idea: replace those polluting boilers with electric alternatives that pull heat from the air and generate high-temperature steam with zero emissions. The company just closed a $21 million Series A round to prove the concept works at scale.

The Technology That Could Reshape Manufacturing

AtmosZero’s Boiler 2.0 isn’t just another sustainability gadget. It’s designed as a drop-in replacement for existing natural gas and oil boilers—meaning companies don’t need to gut their entire infrastructure. The technology extracts ambient heat and converts it to industrial-grade steam with maximum efficiency, allowing operations to cut emissions while keeping their processes running.

“We’re not asking companies to rethink their entire setup,” CEO Addison Stark explained. “We’re giving them a product that solves industrial decarbonization without the complexity of custom engineering projects.”

Who’s Backing the Vision?

Engine Ventures and 2150 co-led the round, with notable support from Constellation Technology Ventures—the investment arm of Constellation Energy Corporation (Nasdaq: CEG), America’s largest producer of carbon-free electricity. Energy Impact Partners, Starlight Ventures, and AENU also participated.

The investor lineup tells you something important: this isn’t just environmental theater. Michael Kearney from Engine Ventures frames it as geopolitical necessity. “Reducing reliance on fossil fuels isn’t just an environmental imperative—it’s a geopolitical one, too,” he said, highlighting how industrial decarbonization intersects with energy security.

Moving From Lab to Market

AtmosZero isn’t theoretical. The company already partnered with New Belgium Brewing Company for a full-scale pilot at their flagship facility. They’ve also launched AtmosZero Europe, B.V., based in Amsterdam, signaling aggressive European expansion plans.

To accelerate commercialization, the team also secured a $3.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO)—validation that government agencies see real potential here.

Why This Matters

Industrial process heat accounts for a massive blind spot in decarbonization strategies. While renewables capture headlines, steam generation remains a stubborn source of emissions across food and beverage production, chemical manufacturing, district heating, and countless other sectors. AtmosZero’s approach—making decarbonization a scalable product rather than a bespoke project—could unlock massive impact potential in a market that’s been waiting for exactly this kind of solution.
