Telco Industry Gets New Network Management Solution Through AT&T and ServiceNow Partnership

Managing network infrastructure across 5G and fiber systems represents one of the most intricate challenges communications service providers face today. The fragmented nature of legacy systems—where data lives across multiple platforms without unified workflows—has long constrained operational efficiency and made network investments harder to optimize.

That landscape is shifting. AT&T and ServiceNow have jointly unveiled a purpose-built platform to tackle these systematic inefficiencies. Built on the ServiceNow Platform, the Telecom Network Inventory solution enables CSPs worldwide to consolidate their network infrastructure management into a single operating environment. The product emerges from AT&T’s strategic input and technical expertise combined with ServiceNow’s cloud-based platform capabilities.

Addressing Industry-Wide Operational Gaps

The challenge is straightforward but persistent: communications service providers struggle to maintain consistent visibility across their entire network ecosystem. Without integrated views and standardized workflows, operators cannot effectively connect actionable intelligence to their infrastructure decisions. This fragmentation translates into slower issue resolution, disconnected asset management, and constrained business agility.

Telecom Network Inventory directly confronts these pain points by delivering a unified platform that bridges legacy systems and creates coherent data workflows. The solution enables CSPs to maximize their network infrastructure investments, streamline order management, elevate customer experience outcomes, and accelerate organizational responsiveness to market changes.

AT&T’s Strategic Role and Deployment Plans

AT&T leveraged its position as a major global telecom operator to shape the solution’s architecture and functionality. The company plans to deploy Telecom Network Inventory internally in the near term, using it to deepen insights into network operations and accelerate issue resolution cycles.

Jon Summers, senior vice president of information technology and chief information officer at AT&T, emphasized the significance of the collaboration: “This partnership addressed a broad industry challenge in a way that extends well beyond AT&T’s own needs. We’re eager to witness how operators globally will leverage this capability.”

Continuous Evolution and Industry Impact

AT&T will maintain an ongoing strategic advisory role as ServiceNow continues developing and refining Telecom Network Inventory, ensuring the platform evolves to meet the sector’s most demanding requirements. Rohit Batra, vice president and head of telecommunications, media, and technology products at ServiceNow, framed the effort as foundational: “We’re redefining what network inventory can accomplish for the industry, and this is only our starting point as we address emerging challenges for communications service providers.”

Industry analysts recognize the significance. According to Francis Haysom, principal analyst at Appledore Research, the solution introduces a “process-centric methodology to network inventory that has historically been missing or splintered across deployments.” This architectural approach creates opportunities for end-to-end network automation while supporting increasingly sophisticated and valuable network services.

For telecommunications operators managing complex multi-technology networks, the ability to consolidate hardware, software, equipment, and services onto a single coherent platform becomes critical to sustainable operations and competitive positioning.
