Leadership transition marks pivot for AI Data Cloud company’s go-to-market strategy. Snowflake (NYSE: SNOW) has announced that Mike Gannon will assume the role of Chief Revenue Officer starting March 14, 2025, taking over from Chris Degnan, who is retiring after helping build the company from inception to $3.4 billion in annual revenue.

Who Is Mike Gannon?

Gannon arrives at Snowflake with over a decade of enterprise sales leadership. Most recently, he served as President of Americas Sales at VMware by Broadcom, where he orchestrated the integration of VMware’s go-to-market functions into Broadcom and consolidated the Professional Services division. His track record spans high-growth, competitive markets where he scaled sales organizations and drove adoption among Fortune 500 clients across both private and public sectors.

Earlier in his career, Gannon held senior sales positions at EMC Corporation and Isilon Systems, where he built and expanded revenue operations while strengthening enterprise customer relationships. He holds a B.A. from Oswego State University.

What This Means for Snowflake

CEO Sridhar Ramaswamy highlighted Gannon’s qualifications, noting his proven ability to develop world-class teams in competitive landscapes and execute high-growth scaling strategies. With Gannon steering the CRO function, Snowflake is positioning itself to accelerate revenue expansion as it pursues its next growth chapter.

Chris Degnan’s retirement marks the end of an era—he was Snowflake’s first salesman and played a pivotal role in the company’s trajectory from startup to enterprise powerhouse generating $3.4 billion in annual revenue. Degnan will remain with Snowflake during the transition period to ensure continuity with Gannon.

The Bottom Line

The CRO appointment reflects Snowflake’s focus on strengthening its commercial engine. With Gannon’s enterprise sales expertise and operational scaling background, the company is signaling its commitment to expanding market share in the competitive AI Data Cloud space, where more than 11,000 global enterprises currently rely on Snowflake’s platform.
