CAVA, the Mediterranean fast-casual dining brand trading on NYSE, is making waves in the Midwest with its latest growth push. The chain is opening its second Michigan location and first in the Detroit metro area on September 26 at 636 Woodward Ave—just months after entering the state with its Canton restaurant.
The new 3,000-square-foot Detroit outpost will feature an indoor dining space alongside digital ordering and delivery capabilities. Like other CAVA locations, it offers the brand’s signature customizable menu, delivering over 17 billion flavor combinations through chef-curated bowls, pitas, house-made dips, and fresh juices. The recently launched Chicken Shawarma protein has also joined the nationwide menu for a limited run.
Rapid Growth Trajectory
CAVA’s Michigan expansion signals the brand’s accelerating footprint across North America. With this Detroit opening, the company reaches 28 states plus the District of Columbia, having recently crossed its 400th location milestone. The brand is targeting at least 1,000 restaurants by 2032, demonstrating ambitious long-term growth plans that extend well beyond Michigan.
CDO Jeff Gaul commented on the momentum: “We’re excited to welcome Detroit to our table to experience the bold flavors of our high-quality meals and Mediterranean hospitality while living out our mission to bring heart, health, and humanity to food.”
Community-First Approach
True to its model, CAVA hosted a Community Day event ahead of the official opening, raising funds for Food Rescue US - Detroit while offering complimentary meals to locals. The brand’s companywide Community Day program has generated over $1 million in donations since 2019, supporting food insecurity initiatives.
The restaurant will employ 25-40 local team members and offers competitive benefits including healthcare, paid time off, early wage access, and free mental health support—reflecting CAVA’s emphasis on team member development and hospitality culture.
Operating hours run from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with CAVA planning additional Michigan expansion later this year as part of its broader regional strategy.
