BTC Options Whale's Unrealized Profit of $2.46 Million: A $1 Million Gamble

Abstract generation in progress

【BlockBeats】An interesting on-chain piece of information worth paying attention to. A whale’s activity in the Deribit options market has caught the attention of many analysts—this large holder previously paid a premium of $2.86 million to buy 3,000 BTC call options expiring on January 30, targeting the $100,000 mark.

As of January 5th, the unrealized profit has reached $2.463 million, with a pretty good return. However, the logic behind this trade is quite straightforward and brutal: as long as BTC does not break through $100,953.67 before expiration, this whale will have to absorb the entire $2.86 million loss. Conversely, as long as the price moves upward, he can choose to take profits at any time. This all-in style of betting not only reflects the whale’s firm view that BTC will rise but also exposes the high-risk nature of options trading—winning is exciting, but losing means everything is wiped out.

This whale is too ruthless, going all-in with 2.86 million just to gamble on the 100,000 threshold.

This whale is really a hardcore all-in player, throwing 2.86 million to hit an integer milestone. Their mental resilience is incredible.

2.46 million floating profit looks satisfying, but the key is that this mechanism is designed too extremely... all-in betting in a single direction, essentially a zero-sum game, with no hedging mechanism as a safety net, so losing truly results in zero. Historically, this kind of gambling has had successes, but also collapses, and this time whales are using large capital to lower the probability of risk, but probability ultimately cannot change mathematics.

This whale really dares to gamble, betting 2.86 million entirely on options. If it doesn't take off, it will suffer heavy losses with no middle ground.

This whale is really bold, going all-in with 2.86 million just to gamble on the 100,000 threshold. I really don't know if it's courage or a gambler's mentality.

This whale really dares to do it. Spending 2.86 million in rights fees just to gamble on the 100,000 milestone. Now with a floating profit of 2.46 million, it looks satisfying, but I still feel a bit uneasy...

This whale is really bold, going all-in with 2.86 million, betting on the 100,000 milestone... If they actually go through with it, it's game over.

2.86 million fully staked here, this whale really dares to play. It's either a blast or a total loss.
