Many people think that value investing is difficult, and a key reason is— they equate value investing with long-term investing. And as for the long term, honestly, most people can't stick with it.

I know quite a few people who say they agree with value investing in words but turn around and chase short-term gains. The reason is simple: they find the long-term too tedious, and quick trades feel more satisfying. Seeing the tempting returns of ten-bagger stocks, they can't stomach the waiting period of several years, and in the end, they give up. I can only smile.

But there's a misconception that needs to be clarified—value investing has never said you must hold long-term.

Maybe everyone has heard too much of Buffett's discounted cash flow method, thinking you need to calculate a company's lifetime value precisely before taking action. Plus, his famous saying "Coca-Cola is a lifetime hold" has led some to believe they must hold stocks forever. Some even wonder, if I really hold forever, how do I spend the money I earn? Buy a villa, buy a yacht, achieve financial freedom—these are the ultimate goals of investing.

In fact, the core of value investing is not about the length of time, but about the buy point and the sell point. Waiting before buying is waiting, and waiting before selling is also waiting. This act of waiting seems simple, but in reality... this is the real test of a person.

Once you understand this, you'll see why some people who have earned ten times still feel pain—because they haven't truly understood the logic of value investing, they are just gambling on time. And those who truly understand the game, on the other hand, find this process not so difficult.

That's correct, the key is the buy and sell points, not holding on stubbornly. --- Most people simply lack patience and can't wait for that moment. --- The core is two words: patience. Sounds easy, but in practice... uh, just give up. --- Tenfold returns are tempting, but a few years of waiting discourages many, and this is the real picture. --- Value investing ≠ long-term investing. This misunderstanding needs to be cleared up, or everyone will be discouraged.

Knowing when to buy and sell is really the hard part; most people simply can't get a handle on it.

ngl the whole "buffett hodl forever" thing is exactly the kind of adoption barrier that keeps plebs from understanding protocol sustainability... timing the exit is literally about reading market fundamentals, not emotional discipline. most degens just don't have the intellectual infrastructure for this

Honestly, buying and selling points are the key; it's not necessary to hold on until death. Oh no, most people just can't wait; psychologically, they just lack that bit of patience. If you don't understand the core logic, then start playing, which is the biggest pitfall. Making ten times profit and still feeling uncomfortable? That means you haven't understood value investing; you're just relying on luck. Waiting truly tests people; it's even harder than finding the right target. Short-term trading is exciting, but long-term patience is exhausting, and most people get stuck here. Buying and selling points, in essence, are about waiting, but they just can't wait.

Picking the right buy and sell points is indeed key, but waiting itself is the biggest test. --- That's right, most people simply can't stick to that wait. --- Haha, the idea of holding lifelong is really absurd; Buffett didn't tell you to do that. --- The core is to have a clear exit plan, not just hold on stubbornly. --- There are too many people who feel uncomfortable even after earning ten times; greed is something that can't be cured. --- The saying that waiting tests human nature really hits the point. --- The conflict between short-term thrill and value investing logic, which one to choose depends on your own willpower. --- Discounted cash flow sounds fancy, but nine out of ten people who use it get it wrong; in the end, it's just guesswork. --- The problem is most people can't even wait for the buy point to appear, let alone the sell point. --- Without a reasonable take-profit plan, what's the difference from gambling?

Honestly, buying and selling points are the key. Most people just can't wait those few seconds.

That's right, the buy and sell points are the key, and the duration is all meaningless.
