Trump Begins Seizing Venezuelan Oil
Just a few days ago, he started saying "I'm seizing oil for the country," and the display is extremely disgraceful.
The post states, "Venezuelan officials will transfer 30 to 50 million barrels of high-quality, sanctioned oil to the United States. These oils will be sold at market price. And the money will be controlled by me to ensure that these funds benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States. I have instructed Energy Secretary Chris Wray to immediately execute this plan. These oils will be shipped from storage vessels and directly delivered to U.S. unloading docks."
At market prices, 30 to 50 million barrels of crude oil are worth $1.7 to $2.8 billion. This oil is not about digging and refining again; it is already on the oil ships, truly seized. Theoretically, this is the asset of Venezuela's state-owned oil company, meant to be sold to foreign buyers for profit. But the Americans just sent troops to forcibly seize it and then sell it, with Trump in control.
Such acts are utterly shameless, beyond words. This is not about American oil companies exploring and sharing profits with the Venezuelan government. It’s about the Venezuelan government’s oil, which has huge sunk costs, being stolen.
I previously wondered how American companies would invest? Venezuela’s oil quality isn’t good, requiring hundreds of billions of dollars to upgrade equipment, and oil prices can’t be low. So rumors spread that American oil companies aren’t very interested.
Now I understand—no investment needed, just outright theft, with no sunk costs involved. And the Venezuelan government, with its oil stolen, has no way to resist or fight back.
This world has become this terrible, completely broken down. I am utterly furious, and it’s utterly inhumane.
