Wu said that Stripe and Paradigm jointly launched the payment public chain Tempo, which announced the release of the native token standard TIP-20. This standard is specifically designed for stablecoins and payment use cases. It is based on Ethereum and existing ERC-20 standards on EVM-compatible chains, and is fully backward compatible. Building on ERC-20, it adds features such as transfer notes, compliance controls, and reward distribution. The TIP-20 standard allows for the issuance of stablecoins tailored for specific payment use cases while meeting operational and compliance requirements. Any TIP-20 stablecoin denominated in USD can be used to pay transaction fees on Tempo. In the future, Tempo plans to support paying fees with non-USD stablecoins.
