The UK clearing bank ClearBank has selected the Swiss infrastructure provider Taurus to drive its expansion into stablecoin-based payment services.
The Taurus-PROTECT partnership acts as the wallet infrastructure provider for ClearBank for custody and management of digital assets.
The integration initially focuses on stablecoins, including USDC and EURC compatible with MiCAR, through connectivity with Circle Mint, Circle’s institutional issuance platform.
Strategic Expansion
ClearBank’s digital asset strategy follows its announcement of joining the Circle Payment Network, enabling cross-border value transfers based on blockchain.
The clearing bank aims to combine traditional payment infrastructure with stablecoin technology for corporate payments and international remittances.
Taurus-PROTECT offers institutional-grade custody in hot, warm, and cold storage configurations designed for regulated financial institutions.
The platform supports custody, staking, and asset-based services for cryptocurrencies, tokenized securities, and digital currencies.
Market Context
The stablecoin market surpassed $300 billion in total market capitalization during 2025, representing approximately 50% year-over-year growth.
Regulatory clarity has encouraged institutional participation in stablecoin infrastructure.
Taurus provides services to over 35 regulated financial institutions worldwide, including Deutsche Bank and State Street.
The Swiss-based company raised $65 million in a Series B funding round led by Credit Suisse prior to its acquisition.
