Population Dynamics of Iran and Israel: Contrasting Trends in Demographic Growth

Abstract generation in progress

Over seven decades, Iran’s population has shown significant growth. In 1950, the country’s population was 16.8 million, and by 2025, this number reached 92.4 million, representing an increase of more than five times. At the same time, neighboring Israel, starting with 1.4 million residents in 1950, reached 9.7 million by 2025.

It is interesting to note the difference in growth rates. Iran’s population increased most rapidly between 1950 and 2000, nearly quadrupling during this period. After 2000, the growth rate of Iran’s population slowed down, although absolute increases remained substantial. From 2020 to 2025, the country added about 5.1 million residents, indicating continued, albeit more moderate, growth.

Israel’s pattern is different — steady but less sharp growth throughout the entire observation period. While Iran’s population increased by approximately 450%, Israel’s population grew by about 610%, demonstrating a higher relative increase despite significantly smaller absolute figures.
