On February 12, the National Immigration Administration announced that, with the continued optimization of visa exemption and consumption-boosting policies, it is forecasted that during this year’s Spring Festival holiday, both inbound and outbound travel will see growth. The average daily number of travelers passing through ports nationwide is expected to exceed 2.05 million, a 14.1% increase compared to last year’s Spring Festival holiday.
Among them, large airport ports will see a significant increase in passenger flow. The peak outbound travel is expected on February 15 (the 28th day of the lunar month), while the peak inbound travel will be from February 22 to 23 (the sixth to seventh day of the lunar new year). The daily average inbound and outbound passenger flow at airports such as Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou Baiyun, Beijing Capital, Chengdu Tianfu, and Shenzhen Bao’an are projected to be 104,000, 57,000, 43,000, 21,000, and 18,000 respectively.
Passenger flow at land border crossings near Hong Kong and Macau remains relatively stable, with peaks expected on February 18-19 (the second to third day of the lunar new year). The daily average inbound and outbound travelers at Shenzhen Luohu, Futian, Shenzhen Bay, the West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail, and Liantang Port are estimated at 209,000, 182,000, 157,000, 112,000, and 93,000 respectively. At Zhuhai Gongbei, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Hengqin, and Qingmao ports, the daily average inbound and outbound travelers are expected to be 308,000, 127,000, 99,000, and 98,000 respectively.
The National Immigration Administration has recently deployed specific measures to ensure smooth border inspection during the Spring Festival holiday. It requires border inspection agencies nationwide to strengthen monitoring of inbound and outbound flow and port operations, promptly release port-specific travel flow information to assist travelers’ planning, and provide guidance and reminders. They will organize duty schedules scientifically, allocate sufficient police forces, and ensure that Chinese citizens’ border crossing queues do not exceed 30 minutes. Close coordination with port inspection units and local authorities will be maintained to manage peak traffic and transportation support, jointly ensuring safe, efficient, and smooth port clearance.
