Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng today (February 5) met with Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou and his delegation. Gong Zheng said that in the fields of trade, investment, and finance, he hopes to focus on areas such as finance, clean energy, and infrastructure development, supporting enterprises from both sides to invest and do business in each other’s countries, sharing opportunities and growing together. He warmly welcomes more Uruguayan companies to participate in the China International Import Expo.
In port cooperation, he hopes to deepen practical collaboration around smart shipping, green shipping, and port planning and construction, strengthening connectivity to promote high-quality economic development for both sides.
In the cultural and people-to-people exchanges, he hopes to take advantage of China’s visa exemption policy for Uruguayans to deepen cooperation in culture, sports, youth, and other fields, fostering mutual understanding among the people and enhancing friendship between the two regions.
