Beijing, February 25 — (Reporter Wang Ke) According to the Ministry of Commerce, during the Spring Festival holiday, local commerce departments actively organized the “Happy Shopping for the New Year” special event, intensifying policies such as old-for-new exchanges and prize-winning invoices to continuously release holiday consumption potential.
Commerce data shows that during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, the average daily sales of key retail and catering enterprises nationwide increased by 5.7% compared to the 2025 Spring Festival holiday, with the growth rate accelerating by 1.6 percentage points. The 78 key pedestrian streets (business districts) monitored by the Ministry of Commerce saw visitor flow and sales revenue increase by 6.7% and 7.5%, respectively, compared to last year’s holiday.
In terms of product consumption, the old-for-new exchange continued to stimulate demand. As of February 23, 2026, the old-for-new policy for consumer goods benefited 31.127 million people, driving sales of 207.03 billion yuan. Demand for smart and green products remained strong. During this Spring Festival holiday, sales of smart glasses and embodied intelligent robots on key platforms increased by 47.3% and 32.7% respectively compared to last year’s holiday. Water-saving bathroom fixtures and organic foods grew by 23.2% and 26.5%.
