Recently, there has been widespread attention on rumors circulating in the market about the adjustment of the factory price of Feitian Moutai. It is rumored that starting February 24, the factory price of 53% vol Feitian Moutai will be increased from 1,169 yuan per bottle to 1,299 yuan per bottle. In response to this, Kweichow Moutai clarified that the news is not true and that the company has not issued any related announcements so far.
Some Moutai distributors have reported that they have not received any official notice regarding a price adjustment. Previously, in November 2023, Kweichow Moutai announced an increase in the factory prices of 53% vol Kweichow Moutai (Feitian and Wuxing), with an average increase of about 20%. This adjustment was one of the few public price hikes by the company in recent years, making the market particularly sensitive to price changes.
It is worth noting that in January this year, Kweichow Moutai lowered prices for some products. Distributors reported that the factory prices of aged Kweichow Moutai (15 years), boutique Moutai, and Moutai 1935 had all decreased, with some drops exceeding 1,000 yuan. This adjustment sharply contrasts with the current rumors of price increases and further highlights market attention to Moutai’s pricing strategy.
Although the retail market price of Feitian Moutai has long been high, its factory price adjustments have been relatively cautious. While the recent price increase rumors have been denied, they still reflect the market’s high concern over the trend of high-end liquor prices. Analysts point out that as an industry leader, Moutai’s pricing strategy not only affects its own performance but also sets a benchmark for the entire baijiu market.
