An internal debate is emerging within the XRP community about whether the Canton network will replace XRP's role in institutional finance, especially in relation to the DTCC. Analysis shows that Canton aims to tokenize regulated assets like U.S. Treasuries and provide configurable privacy and compliance, serving a purpose quite different from that of Canton. XRP, on the other hand, acts as a bridge asset used for real-time cross-border liquidity and settlement, such as Ripple's On-Demand Liquidity service. The two operate on complementary rather than competing tracks. The issues each network addresses are different: Canton focuses on asset tokenization, while XRP concentrates on liquidity bridging.
