It’s when brands reach out to you (like as an influencer or creator) to promote their products, such as sending you items, paying you cash, earning commissions through affiliate links, or signing an ambassador contract. This is different from X’s advertising rules; some prohibited topics might still be okay in ads.

> If it’s promotional, clearly label it, like with “Ad” or “Sponsored Content,” don’t hide it.
> You must ensure compliance with laws, such as FTC endorsement rules in the U.S., and honestly disclose that it’s an ad.
> The promoted content should be obvious at a glance; don’t make people click links to figure out what it is.
⚠️Which industries are off-limits?
These are absolute bans; promoting them means you’re done (though sometimes exceptions can be requested, but it’s difficult):
> Adult toys, pornography
> Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, CBD products
> Gambling, lotteries, sports betting
> Cryptocurrency, loans, investments, financial services
> Weight loss pills, health supplements, medications, hospitals
> Weapons, ammunition, training
> Dating apps, marriage services
> Politics, social hot topics used for profit

Anyone can report anonymously using X’s form, no account needed.
⚠️What if you violate the rules?
Minor violations result in post deletion or temporary bans; serious violations lead to account suspension, especially for troublemaker accounts. It depends on the severity and whether you have prior violations. If you disagree, you can appeal.
