Peraso partners with Israeli defense company to develop drone identification technology

Peraso Inc. (NASDAQ: PRSO) announced that it will supply its 60GHz millimeter-wave (mmWave) semiconductor technology to Israeli defense company InTACT for developing an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) identification system capable of operating effectively in electronic warfare environments. InTACT’s friend-or-foe identification (IFF) system enables secure recognition between UAVs and ground forces in advanced electronic warfare settings, becoming a critical technology in military operations where friendly UAV identification is essential.

Peraso’s 60GHz beamforming wireless transceivers, with low power consumption and high directionality, reduce the likelihood of detection or interference in electronic warfare environments, ensuring secure communication. Peraso CEO Ron Ghelwari emphasized, “With the surge in unmanned systems, the ability to distinguish friend from foe in real-time is vital for protecting troops and enhancing operational efficiency.”

InTACT’s system achieves real-time recognition by authenticating UAVs and ground personnel on the battlefield. This technology is not only applied to infantry units and command systems but also used for UAV defense. Designed for reliable operation in electronic warfare conditions, it offers significant advantages when conventional wireless communications are easily detected or disrupted.

Peraso and InTACT have collaborated for over two years on this new identification technology, aiming to provide compact integrated solutions suitable for battlefield deployment.
