Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 10th, reports that a French couple was attacked by three masked robbers posing as police officers with knives at their home in Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt, western Paris. They were forced to transfer about 900,000 euros (approximately $1 million USD) worth of Bitcoin. The couple was tied up and injured, and the robbers then fled in a white van. The case has been handed over to the Versailles Prosecutor’s Office for investigation into gang-related crimes, with no arrests made yet.

This incident is the latest example of “wrench attacks” in the cryptocurrency field in recent years, where perpetrators use violence or threats to force holders to surrender digital assets. According to cybersecurity platform CertiK, such attacks increased by 75% globally in 2025, totaling 72 cases, with France leading at 19 cases. Since the beginning of this year, France has experienced multiple kidnapping and home invasion robberies targeting crypto industry professionals.
