Speaking of staying in the crypto world, do you think adding an academic degree halo is useful?

After the bear market, I talked with several young friends about future plans, especially during the HK conference, where many said that if the bear market lasts more than 🐻 year, they plan to return to school for further studies and even asked for my opinion.
I didn't dare to give a definitive answer because I previously worked hard to apply for an Ivy League MBA, spending a lot of effort on GMAT prep, essays, and tutoring—more time and energy than I ever did during my most intense crypto days.
And my ten years of experience in the crypto industry have made me question whether the skills I use to make money overlap much with what schools teach.
If I spend so much time and effort preparing and the market turns around, what then? 😂😂😂
Will finishing school really help me make more money?
But whether an elite school background can bring more opportunities and long-term benefits to young people, I’m not sure. After all, the world has long since shifted away from traditional paths of going into investment banking and marrying a wealthy heiress under the impact of crypto and AI.
What if you go to an Ivy League school, meet a daughter of a big shot, and get an instant upgrade? Or find a benefactor through the alumni network who helps you seize a potential opportunity?
So I can only hold steady and tell them to follow their hearts.
Today, seeing Elizabeth going to NYU’s certain college suddenly made me realize I might be a bit off. It seems that a Master’s or MBA from an Ivy League isn’t the only right answer anymore; there are other shortcuts, depending on what you want. 🤭
So, if the bear market continues, do you think going back to school to get an additional degree is necessary?
