According to Yonhapnews, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced the arrest of a family criminal group that used unregistered virtual asset exchanges for money laundering. The investigation revealed that the organization consisted of 19 members, mostly relatives, who operated an unregistered virtual asset exchange business in Myeongdong, Seoul. They converted large amounts of cash obtained from telecommunications fraud into Tether (USDT) and transferred it overseas, with the amount involved estimated to reach tens of billions of Korean won. During the search, police seized approximately 60 billion Korean won in criminal proceeds, including cash worth 4.05 billion Korean won, silver bars worth 1.5 billion Korean won, and gold bars worth 500 million Korean won.
