Just saw Charlie Shrem is bringing back that legendary Bitcoin Faucet from 2010. You know, the one where Gavin Andresen was literally giving away free btc to anyone who solved a CAPTCHA? Wild to think about now.

Back then people were grabbing 5 BTC for basically nothing because Bitcoin was worth less than a penny. That's like half a million dollars each at today's prices ($72.89K). Completely insane when you do the math.

So Shrem's relaunching it, but here's the thing - the site isn't live yet and there's no Bitcoin in it currently. It's just a throwback to how Bitcoin used to onboard people when mining and buying were a pain. The original faucet actually worked too, thousands of early users got their first exposure through it.

The payouts eventually got smaller and smaller until it shut down, but man, the nostalgia factor is huge. Makes you wonder if free btc giveaways could actually work today to bring in new people, or if we're way past that point. Either way, it's pretty cool seeing these old ideas come back around.
