Just realized a lot of people don't know how easy it is to update your SRD grant banking details online now. Spent like 10 minutes doing it yesterday and honestly it's way simpler than I expected, especially compared to the old permanent grant process.

Basically for SRD, you just go on the SASSA portal, punch in your ID number, and they send you a link via SMS. Click the link, enter your new bank account info, done. The whole thing is electronic so no need to go queue at an office. Just make sure the account is registered in your actual name though—they won't pay into joint accounts or anything like that.

The trickier part is if you're on a permanent grant like disability or old age. Those still require you to physically visit a SASSA office with your ID and a recent bank statement. You have to fill out forms and get them verified, which can take up to 21 days to process. And if you want it to take effect next month, you need to submit before the 15th.

Also don't forget about updating your phone number if you changed it. For SRD you can do that online too through their contact portal, but for permanent grants you'll need to call 0800 60 10 11 or go in person. Definitely worth keeping your details current so your payments don't get delayed. Seen too many people miss payments because their banking info was outdated.
